New World Skinning Guide

New World Skinning Guide.Skinning is a valuable gathering trade skill in the New World. The path to level 200 skinning is long and difficult, but it’s well worth the effort if you want to be able to skin any animal you come across in Aeternum. We’ll go over the best ways to level up from 0 to 200 in this New World Skinning leveling guide. To make things easier for you, we’ll include example locations for each level range.

There are a few things to consider before diving into the guide. First and foremost, you’ll need a good skinning knife. If you’re starting from scratch, try crafting an Iron Skinning Knife with a decent perk. Perks provide you with the opportunity to find rare items while skinning or to extract Azoth.

Guide to New World Skinning

You can fully level your skinning in New World by visiting the following two locations:

  • Any Wolf Den in Monarch’s Bluffs, Everfall, Windsward, or First Light
  • Balmy Veldt in Cutlass Keys

Level 0-70 of New World Skinning

Each of the four starting territories contains one or more wolf dens. To find these, open your map and look for the wolf and cave icons. These are your starting skinning areas, and you can spend your time here killing and skinning wolves until you reach level 70 in Tracking & Skinning.

Yes, these wolves are level 6, but grinding up those skinning levels won’t take long. Alternate locations, such as the Lynx skinning spot in Monarch’s Bluffs, are also available. It’s a slightly “glitched” area with a high Lynx spawn rate, so there’s little to no downtime between killing and skinning enemies.

Setting your waypoint nearby will benefit you regardless of which Wolf Den you choose. When you’re out of leather and meat, simply return to town and either sell everything or store it in your shed. Then it’s back to grinding those skinning levels once more.

Level 70-200 of New World Skinning

You can travel to the Cutlass Keys region to get from Skinning level 70 to 200 in New World. Balmy Veldt is the area you need to find, and it’s near the center of Cutlass Keys. The Lushhunt Pointer, a level 34 demon-dog type creature, is the animal we’re looking to the skin to get us from 70 to 200.

When you skin a Lushhunt Pointer, you will gain approximately 650 Tracking & Skinng experience. As you can imagine, this will get you from 70 to 200 in a matter of hours. The nice thing about it is that it also grants some nice experience, so you’ll probably gain a few combat levels just by skinning!

The exact location of Lushhunt Pointers can be found on the map above. Remember to pick up the Fast Travel stone to the north of the location, and stay at the Cutlass Keys Inn. Rawhide will inevitably fill your bags to the brim. At that point, you can quickly return to town, store or sell your hides, and then quickly return to the nearby waypoint.

The problem is that this costs some Azoth, but this becomes insignificant if you pick up a skinning knife with the Azoth Extraction perk, which grants a percent chance of gaining 1 Azoth while skinning. If you’re not carrying a lot of weight while fast traveling, that should more than cover your travel expenses.

That brings us to the end of our New World Skinning leveling guide. You might be surprised to learn that you can grind the entire skill in two different places. Fortunately, this makes it one of the simplest skills to level in the game! It’s still a time-consuming process, but New World is still an MMO.
