How To Get and Use Cross Bomb in Metroid Dread: Cross Bomb Locations.Samus’ Morph Ball Bomb has always been more of a tool than a weapon, designed to clear out obstructions from the tight spaces she needs to roll through while also providing her with a little extra vertical or horizontal movement. Bomb jumping has long been a staple of Metroid speed running, but there are some distances it simply cannot cover. Fortunately, this is where the Cross Bomb comes into play. In Metroid Dread, here’s how to get and use the Cross Bomb.

To get the Cross Bomb, you must defeat Golzuna, a boss in Ghavoran. After obtaining the Space Jump and Gravity Suit from Ferenia and Burenia, respectively, you’ll be able to travel to Golzuna’s location.

In Metroid Dread, how do you get and use a cross bomb?

To obtain the Cross Bomb in Metroid Dread, follow these steps:

  • Find Golzuna in Ghavoran after obtaining the Space Jump and Gravity Suit
  • Blast Golzuna’s early forms with your beam and missiles, then attack its backside in its true form.
  • After defeating Golzuna, hold R while setting a Bomb to set a Cross Bomb

Golzuna first disguises itself as a Muzby, a large fleshy crab-like creature. Simply blast it with your beam a few times until it mutates into a stronger form, which you can then defeat by jumping over it and firing missiles into its unprotected buttocks. It’ll mutate again after a while, revealing Golzuna’s true form.

Golzuna is damaged in the same way that Muzby is, by launching Charge Beams and missiles (preferably Storm Missiles) into its unprotected buttock. When it turns around, simply use your Space Jump to leap over it. The only thing to keep an eye out for are the balls and lines of light it shoots out, which expand into cross-shaped beams. Jump over Golzuna to safety as the beams begin to form. Simply follow the pattern to neutralise Golzuna, then blast down its main X Parasite until you can absorb it, resulting in the Cross Bomb.

Simply hold the R button while laying down a regular Bomb to set a Cross Bomb. The Cross Bomb is slightly greener in colour. It will detonate in a cross-shaped pattern, destroying Bomb blocks to the left, right, up, and down. More importantly, you can use the Cross Bomb’s blast to jump over dangerous terrain even in tight quarters. Set a Cross Bomb, move slightly in front of it, and hold the stick in the direction you want to go right as it detonates to get over a line of Pitfall Blocks, for example.
