How To Evolve Espurr In Pokemon And Where To Catch Espurr You’ve got to ’em all! Who hasn’t heard of the Pokemon series’ famous mantra? There are currently 898 Pokemon to catch in a variety of types. It’s difficult to deny that with so many pocket monsters available, it can be difficult to remember everything about each one.

Espurr is a one-of-a-kind Psychic in the series. It was first introduced in Generation VI and has been the source of endless memes ever since. This purrky Poke-Friend has many interesting quirks in how it evolves, its origins, and much more that players will want to know before trainers attempt to raise one of their own.

Russ Boswell updated this page on October 27th, 2021: Pokemon GO is constantly expanding its roster, allowing players to capture their favourite Pocket Monsters. Those who adore Espurr can catch one whenever they want, providing dedicated Pokemon GO players with a pint-sized Psychic-type capable of evolving into a fairly powerful evolution. Espurr’s cute and quirky personality, combined with its stunned stare, makes it one of the most unusual Pokemon to have on a team. We’ve updated the following list with even more facts to better commemorate this Psychic kitten.

In Pokemon GO, evolving Espurr is as simple as giving it 50 Espurr candy! Players in Pokemon Sword and Shield simply train Espurr until it reaches level 25. There are no fancy tricks here; evolving this psychic kitty is as easy as teaching a Metapod to harden!

The Evolution of Espurr Varies Depending on Gender

When a Espurr evolves into Meowstic, it will look drastically different depending on whether it is male or female. It has different coloration, a different number of tails, and even different shaped ears. In terms of appearance and style, it’s by far one of the more interesting gender differences in Pokemon.

Different Genders = Distinct Moves And Abilities

When Espurr evolves, it will learn different types of moves and abilities depending on its gender. A male Espurr will evolve and learn a plethora of status-related moves. It also has the Prankster Hidden Ability.

A female Espurr, on the other hand, will evolve to have far more moves based on dealing damage through attacks. It also has a unique Hidden Ability known as Competitive. These Hidden Abilities are extremely valuable because they significantly improve Meostic and Espurr.

Espurr’s shiny is especially adorable, and it’s well worth hunting down for any hunters out there. Its lavender/pink colour scheme screams kawaii in the most adorable way. Not to mention that it looks even better when it evolves to Meowstic. Pokemon should not be allowed to be this adorably adorable!

Espurr has a cute name that is a bit of a pun. Extrasensory Perception, otherwise known as ESP, is combined with the sound cats make, purring, to create this adorable Pokemon’s equally adorable name. The cat and psychic related puns are kept up across multiple languages as well. Here are some examples:

  • Japanese: ニャスパー Nyasper
  • French: Psystigri
  • German: Psiau
  • Korean: 냐스퍼 Nyaseupeo
  • Cantonese Chinese: 妙喵 Miuhmīu
  • Mandarin Chinese: 妙喵 Miàomiāo

Where To Catch Espurr

In Pokemon GO, Espurr is easiest to capture in one-star raids. Espurr isn’t exclusive to either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, making it easy to acquire on there in the following areas:

  • Route 5
  • Hammerlocke Hills
  • Motostoke Riverbank
  • Watchtower Ruins
  • Stony Wilderness (In Max Raid Battles)

What Espurr Is Based On

https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Scottish-Fold-Nekomata.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5

Espurr could be based on two things. The first is a Nekomata, a folkloric creature from China and Japan. They are a type of cat ykai that comes in two varieties: those that live in the mountains and those that look like domesticated cats. This could be the origin of the two distinct evolutions.

Another possible source of inspiration is the Scottish Fold cat breed. When compared to Espurr, the similarities are striking. The folded ears and owl-like eyes suggest that these two are cousins. Espurr is without a doubt one of the cutest cat Pokemon around.

It’s Effective in the Pokemon Trading Card Game

Espurr is used in a cool deck in the Pokemon TCG that is ideal for players who don’t want to spend a lot of money on cards. It makes use of the Espurr from Unbroken Bonds in conjunction with the Weezing from the same set. Weezing stacks damage counters while Espurr uses Ear Kinesis to knock out the opponent. It’s a solid deck that deserves to be seen in action.

What Moves Can Be Learned From Breeding

https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Pokemon-Breeder.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5

Espurr, like many other Pokemon, can learn new moves through breeding. While the moves it can learn aren’t particularly impressive, players may be interested in them for their utility.

  • Yawn: Can learn from breeding with Wooper, Quagsire, Dunsparce, Hippopotas, Hippowdon, Munna, and Musharna.
  • Tickle: Can learn from breeding with Minccino and Cinccino.

Passing down egg moves may appear complicated at first, but they are actually surprisingly simple. While Tickle isn’t particularly impressive, Yawn is an intriguing move to have, especially when Espurr evolves into a female Meowstic and has less access to status-causing moves.

In Generation VIII, it can learn a move from the Move Tutor.

In Generation VIII, Espurr can learn a specialised move called Expanding Force. By visiting the Move Tutor in Sword & Shield, the Psychic kitten can be given the attack, which has 80 Power, 100 Accuracy, and only affects one foe.

Expanding Force is particularly useful because it gains a 1.5x attack boost when used on Psychic Terrain and has the ability to strike all opponents rather than a single target. When Espurr uses it, it also gains a STAB bonus.

It’s not a serious contender for the Cup.

https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Espurr-Anime.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5

As much fun as it is to bring little buddies into battle, Espurr isn’t a particularly strong opponent in Little Cup. It is outclassed by other Psychic types in Pokemon GO, and there is little reason to use Espurr over the faster and stronger Abra in Sword and Shield. There are still sets and teams that try to incorporate it, but the sad truth is that stronger Pokemon exist in the format.
