Valheim: How To Make Root Armor

Valheim: How To Make Root Armor Since its release earlier this year, the Viking survival game Valheim has continued to introduce updates and content additions. In the latest update of the game, the development team showed a potential new creature and a new set of armor in the swamp biome. With the update now live, Walheim players have discovered abhorrence and learned some details about the new armor.

But figuring out how to obtain Valheim’s Root Armor Set can be a bit challenging. For those players who want to find the ingredients and make this new armor, this guide can help you.

How to make root armor

Those who want to make a three-piece root armor set will need to travel to the swamp biome in Walheim. The new mini-Boss called Abominations are the key to Root Armor, because they will drop a new ingredient in the game: Roots. Exploring this area should allow players to come into contact with these unique creatures in a short period of time.

This biome is full of interesting creatures and locations in Valheim and with this mini-boss it just got more of a challenge. Monstrosities look like spiders, but they have four wooden legs with which they run across the swamp. They are surprisingly fast and have a similar level of difficulty as the trolls in the Black Forest biome. Players will likely need to defeat at least a few of these to collect the required amount of roots.

Gathering Root will notify players of three new recipes: the Root Mask, the Root Harnesk, and Root Leggings. These each can be crafted at a level 2 Workbench.

  • Root Mask: 10 Roots, 10 Ancient Bark, and 4 Leather Scraps
  • Root Harnesk: 10 Roots, 10 Ancient Bark, and 2 Deer Hide
  • Root Leggings: 10 Roots, 10 Ancient Bark, and 2 Deer Hide

What are the Advantages of Root Armor?

Root Armor is incredibly useful for players who want to spend a lot of time in the swamp biome. Its main advantage over other armor sets in Valheim is its poison resistance. Prior to this update, players were forced to rely on poison resistance potions in the swamp. Root armor also comes with a full set effect that gives players a boost to their bows. In addition, the Root Harnesk also provides penetrative weapon resistance for those who wear it.

Unfortunately, the stats of the Root Armor Set are about on par with basic bronze armor, and its weakness to fire makes running into any Surtlings much more of a challenge. For those just getting into the Swamp Biome, Iron Armor provides a better option but doesn’t come with a resistance to poison. This makes the Root Armor Set more useful for exploring than challenging some of Valheim’s stronger enemies.
