It contains a few quests as well as some obscure NPCs and settlements, but everyone must go there for special objectives, items, and resources. Desolace, unlike some other isolated zones, has the unique ability to frustrate both Alliance and Horde players, not just because it’s difficult to reach but also because it’s tough to ignore.

How To Get To Desolace In WoW Classic
About Desolace
Desolace is a neutral zone located on Kalimdor’s western shore. The region is primarily bleak wastelands or grey sand and rock, which contrasts sharply with some of the more scenic zones to the south, such as Feralas. Centaur tribes, annoying lizards, and carrion bords dot the terrain, as well as prized resources like grave moss, iron, and mithril. It’s a 30-40 level zone that neither group controls, making it an ideal breeding ground for PvP.
Smaller towns of both Horde and Alliance races can be found on this contested land. Nijel’s Point is a good deal closer to the Charred Vale’s entrance road. Ghost Walker Post and Shadowprey Village are the only villages available to Horde players, but they are both quite far away.
In this version of Classic, Ghost Walker Post is located in the middle of a treacherous plain filled with furious desert creatures and lacks a flying path. Shadowprey Village does have one, but it’s on the other side of the main road travelling south from the Charred Vale and Stonetalon Mountains, on the western coast.
How To Get To Desolace
Blizzard introduced extra boats that sail out of Stormwind in Cataclysm, one of the many expansions for World of Warcraft, to assist players travel about a little easier. Lower-level gamers in Menethil Harbor were fed up with being ganked.
Players will not have access to these pathways in Classic and Burning Crusade Classic, thus travelling around will take a little longer. On their first trip, most characters walk, but certain characters are better at making gold or have class mounts, making their journey a little simpler. How To Get To Desolace: Alliance
- Darnassus: This is the Alliance city closest to Desolace, which is convenient considering it isn’t close to anything else. Take a boat to Auberdine in Darkshore and run south to Stonetalon’s southwestern corner. This path passes via Ashenvale and the Barrens, which are already part of the natural level progression. Characters travelling in this direction can take advantage of the Deeptalon Path, a secret tunnel connecting Ashenvale and the Stonetalon Mountains, bypassing the Barrens entirely.
- Ironforge: From Ironforge, head east, then north to the Wetlands. Menethil Harbor can be found by continuing down the road to the western side of the Wetlands. In Darkshore, take the northern of the two boats to Auberdine. Players can also take the Deeprun Tram to Stormwind and then a boat to Theramore Isle, from where they can fly to Ratchet, a neutral city in Kalimdor that is on the Alliance flight path.
- Stormwind: From the Stormwind docks, higher-level players or those who are prepared for a lengthy run can board the ship to Theramore Isle. Others should go to the Dwarven District. To get to Menethil Harbor, take the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge, then follow the same routes.
- The Exodar is a fictional character. Darnassus lost the designation the most isolated Alliance settlement once the Draenei city was created in TBC. Take a boat or a flying path to Teldrassil, which is where Darnassus is located, and then go from there.
How To Get To Desolace: Horde
- Orgrimmar. Into the Barrens, take the route south, then west. The Stonetalon Mountains await you in the northwest. Then take the northwest route to Charred Vale, which connects to the southwest trail. In the southwest corner of Charred Vale, there’s a small road that runs south into Desolace.
- Thunder Bluff is a place in the United States where you may How do players go from Mulgore to Desolace? One of the quickest ways to get to Desolace is to fly from Thunder Bluff to Sun Rock Retreat and then walk south. Players must go east and north out of Mulgore’s protected territories before heading west on foot.
- Undercity. The Eastern Kingdoms’ Horde soldiers travel large distances using goblin-operated Zepplin instead of ships. The Undercity Zeppelin will transport players to Orgimmar, from where they can either fly or walk west. It’s a long travel, but it passes through Horde-friendly low-level locations.
- Silvermoon City is a fictional city in the United States. Between the home of the Blood Elves and the rest of Azeroth are the max-level zones that made Warcraft III renowned. Thankfully, a simple Translocation Orb in Silvermoon’s northwestern corner will transport a player directly to Lordaeron’s ruins, just steps away from the Undercity Zepplin tower.
If you start in Orgrimmar, all Horde races will have to take the same path. Traveling across the Barrens is tedious but straightforward, with the Stonetalon Mountains being significantly less dangerous than Ashenvale, and the Horde having their own road from Sun Rock Retreat to the Charred Vale.

Neutral Routes
In Classic WoW, players with higher levels or who belong to specific classes have access to neutral cities, which might make the journey to Desolace easier.
- Booty Bay is a place where you may find a lot of This neutral settlement, located on the southernmost tip of Stranglethorn Vale, serves as a convenient transportation centre, with flying pathways for both factions and a boat to Kalimdor. It’s also close to the Horde encampment, which features a zeppelin tower with connections to Orgrimmar and Undercity.
- Ratchet. This is the first spot in Kalimdor where some Humans and Dwarves met. It is a neutral city on the east coast. With an Alliance air path and a direct boat from Booty Bay, it’s a convenient position.
- Moonglade. Druids can gain early entry to this city thanks to a special hearthstone, and from there they can fly to Thunder Bluff or Darnassus. Even if a character has to run, this significantly reduces the amount of time and distance travelled.
- Shattrath. There are multiple portals in the city’s centre that can transport a player to any of Azeroth’s main cities. Although Outland’s flying mounts do not work in Azeroth, characters that are high enough level to enter this sanctuary city in Outland are likely to have most of the flight plans and an epic mount to bring them to Desolace.
