How To Override Machines In Horizon Zero Dawn. Horizon Zero Dawn is jam-packed with systems, ranging from weapon modding to resource crafting to all of the combat tactics required to defeat the game’s numerous machines. Override, however, is a mechanic that can assist make the game easier. Bit the first several hours have a good rhythm, it takes a while for some key gameplay aspects such as Override to be presented for Aloy to employ and make the most of the wilds.

Horizon Zero Dawn’s early hours may surprise new and seasoned gamers alike, as the game forces Aloy to run everywhere. Horizon’s large map means that players will quickly find themselves wondering if there’s a faster mode of transportation that they’re missing out on, despite the fact that she’s a relatively fast sprinter in open-world games. There is, as it turns out: players can mount a limited number of machines and ride them like horses, but they must first obtain Aloy’s Override ability.

How to Get Override in Horizon Zero Dawn

The Override upgrade is easy to obtain: simply go through the game until Aloy is promoted to the level of Seeker shortly after the Proving. Before she can embark on her adventure, players must defeat a “Demon” and some corrupted machines in a boss battle. Following the battle, Aloy grabs a piece of the “Demon” and attaches it to her spear, giving her the ability to Override a few machines. To do so, the player must approach an unsuspecting mechanical beast and, when requested, hold down the triangle button for a few seconds.

As previously mentioned, overriding is useful for turning some machines into mounts, but it also makes combat easier by turning a machine into an ally for a limited time in battle. Aloy can only Override a few machines at first, but clearing out Cauldrons allows her to have a greater impact.
