How To Beat Lucifer SMT V. You’ve completed the task. You’ve beaten every boss on your way to Godhood, overcome every challenge, and destroyed every monster in your way. The entity who murdered God and set Shin Megami Tensei 5 in action is the only remaining antagonist. It’s time to confront Lucifer.

Lucifer, as one might think, is no laughing matter. He’s the culmination of every clever technique, evil tactic, and potent statistic ever devised. He’s the final boss, and he’s not going down easily. Note that if you choose the “Destroy The Throne” option, you will not face Lucifer; instead, you will face Tsukuyomi.

Lucifer is a being who has already risen to the Throne of Creation, overthrowing genuine, fully-formed Gods and gaining unfathomable power. This is reflected in-game as well, with Lucifer boasting excellent Potentials in every area.

But that’s not all; Lucifer has a physique that dwarfs the rest of the bestiary. Lucifer possesses a terrifying Magic stat of 105, which is backed up by an 85 Strength stat. His Luck and Agility numbers are likewise respectable, and his Vitality is just high enough to be concerning. Lucifer isn’t about to give up without a fight.

Lucifer is a God who is both unique and all-encompassing in his intent. He can only use single target strikes, yet he can attack almost any weakness in the game. If you walk in with an unprepared party, Lucifer will be a big menace, and he will most likely just rack up bonus turns.

His ‘Barion’ skills, which include Agibarion, Bufubarion, Ziobarion, Zanbarion, and the odd one out, Megidolaon, do the bulk of his damage. All of these abilities have one thing in common: they all do a significant amount of damage. Megiodlaon is the most dangerous of the three, since its Almighty damage allows it to bypass any fortifications.

Lucifer also has access to the ridiculously powerful Cold Dark Matter skill, which can be readily uninstalled. This immediately boosts Lucifer’s already formidable defence to new heights. You should cease beating him if this is active because it’s a waste of time. This must be deleted as soon as possible.

Lucifer’s Falling Star abilities are the cosmic elephant in the room. These abilities are available only once Lucifer summons the Cocytus and Brimstone Star. When Lucifer’s turn comes around, if these stars are still burning (i.e., not dead), you’re going to take a tonne of unblockable damage. This is twice as harmful if both stars are active.

Furthermore, the Cocytus and Brimstone Star alter Lucifer’s resistances, making him vulnerable to Fire and Ice. If anything, this is a trap. You don’t want to go after Lucifer’s new weaknesses since you won’t be able to take out the stars if you do. When a star is destroyed, Lucifer loses the related weakness.

Lucifer’s deadly repertory is completed with his table of resistances. Lucifer has no flaws; he can block almost anything, and the only thing that can harm him is Dark. As previously stated, his resistances shift when he has the Cocytus and Brimstone Star in play, but not much.

Because Lucifer is so defiant, you’re left with only two choices: Almighty or Piercing. You could run Dark, but there are more demons capable of Piercing than excellent Dark demons at this point in the game.

Lucifer demands a party almost completely made up of late-game demons. Weaker demons aren’t going to cut it since they have too many flaws for Lucifer to exploit, and fixing them would be too costly in terms of essence. Rather, concentrate on fusing new demons.

You should also concentrate on demons that can get past Lucifer’s defences – Piercing and Almighty can help here.

Odin

Odin makes an appearance on the roster sheet once more because, well, Odin is incredible. Odin’s primary weakness is Force, therefore transferring Resist/Null Force will immediately improve his situation.

Odin is right up there with the best of them when it comes to damage. He has high Physical Potentials, can use Piercing with Gungnir, and only requires Physical Pleroma if you wish to increase his damage.

Finally, Odin gets access to AOE damage in the form of Hades Blast, which will deliver good damage to Cocytus and Brimstone Star while not being fantastic versus Lucifer. A fantastic demon to have in your party in general.

Because Odin is a Special Fusion, you’ll need to devote time and resources to quests and supplies.

Uriel

Uriel is yet another formidable late-game demon capable of competing with Lucifer. Uriel’s only weakness is his vulnerability to Ice, so use Resit/Null Ice to mitigate this. Aside from that, Uriel is a fantastic choice.

Uriel has a good stat spread and good potential. His biggest selling point, though, is his proximity to Narukami. Narukami is an Electric attack that ignores resistances, therefore it will hit Lucifer right in the heart.

Consider employing Potential enhancers to compensate for Uriel’s rather weak Potentials in Lightning. Electric Pleroma could also be transferred.

Uriel, like Odin, is a Special Fusion, therefore expect to put a lot of money on his creation

Raphael

Raphael, like Uriel, is an angel of great might. Because Fire is his only weakness, transfer Resist/Null Fire to keep him healthy. Raphael is now free to wreak mayhem once more.

Raphael is a Force user who wields incredible power. He has the ability to use Killing Wind, a Piercing Force attack, as well as High Force Pleroma, which increases the damage even more. This is bolstered by the fact that he has a high base Magic stat.

Mada

Mada and Lakshmi are two supporters who stand out at this late point of the game. Mada is the offensive support who is meant to cause trouble for Lucifer. If you want to take Mada, you’ll have to compensate for his Ice vulnerability, but that’s a little price to pay for such a powerful demon.

Mada has native access to Debilitate, which reduces all of Lucifer’s stats while also assisting in the fight against Cold Dark Matter. Mada can also use Mediarahan to fully heal the party, albeit AOE heals are unnecessary while Lucifer only deals single-target damage.

Consider transferring a cheaper, single-target heal, as well as Dekukaja, to help Mada reach the next level. Dekukaja will remove all of Lucifer’s bonuses, rendering Cold Dark Matter useless.

Lakshmi

Lakshmi is a fantastic support demon who enjoys causing havoc in your party. Her main flaw is Electric, so mask that and she’ll be set to go.

Lakshmi’s main draw is her Boon Boost and Luster Candy combo. The former extends the duration of all of Lakshmi’s boosts, while the latter applies the finest buff in the game. This is enough to take her, but the addition of Mediarahan provides her with some healing abilities as well.

Lakshmi will be able to dominate this fight by transferring Dekukaja and casting a powerful single-target healing spell, much like she did with Mada.

Preparing For Battle

Essence Fusion

You’ll need to bust open that luscious Metatron Essence for this fight. This won’t bring you many benefits, but it will protect Nahobino against anything except Dark magic. This is an excellent choice because Lucifer does not employ Dark magic. It will also free up some space on your talent page if it becomes too full. If you have some easily transferable Nulls, go ahead and use them, but first and foremost, focus on your party’s resistances.

When it comes to attacks, Nahobino has only one viable option: Murakumo from Aogami Type-0. This attack deals Almighty damage, piercing Lucifer’s defences with ease.

Murderous Glee, as well as Almighty Pleroma, will trigger Murakumo’s additional damage more frequently if you equip it. Make sure you get some Almighty Potential Miracles from the World Of Shadows to make this click.

Kannabi Veil is the final piece of the puzzle. This spell gives your party a nice defensive boost and can help keep Lucifer’s damage under control, especially when he starts hurling Megiodolaon around.

Items

Magic Mirrors are a good item to get rid of. These will cause Lucifer to take Magic damage and end his turn. These are far more valuable than Dampers, although Dampers are ineffective against Lucifer. He possesses an excessive number of assaults that cover an excessive number of aspects. Mirrors, on the other hand, will not function against Megiodolaon.

You’ll also want to pack a lot of mana items to keep your supports buzzing, as well as healing items to save mana and revives in case you get hit. Gems and Shards aren’t enough to make this worthwhile.

Battle Strategy
