How To Get Burmy In Pokemon Brilliant & Diamond Shining Pearl

How To Get Burmy In Pokemon Brilliant & Diamond Shining Pearl. Trainers, both old and new, are welcomed to the Sinnoh region in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. In addition, in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokemon that have been primarily absent in recent games make a comeback. This contains less well-known Pokemon like Burmy, a Bug-type Pokemon.

Burmy and its descendants, Wormadam and Mothim, are less well-known than Caterpie and Butterfree. Wormadam and Mothim, on the other hand, have a higher base stat when fully evolved than most regional Bug-type Pokemon. Burmy is also unique in that its type varies based on the environment in which it last fought. Trainers will require access to the Honey Trees in order to catch Burmy.

Renri Seong updated this page on February 21, 2022: The Sinnoh region is home to a large number of Bug-type Pokemon. Some Bug-types are recognised for their in-game cry, such as Kricketune, while others are known for being a new evolution for an older Pokemon (Yanmega and Yanma). Burmy and its evolutions are frequently overlooked in favour of other Sinnoh Pokemon. To complete the Pokedex in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, you must see Burmy and its evolutions. Despite the fact that the Burmy-line is largely forgotten in the Pokemon franchise, some trainers will include Wormadam or Mothim on their squad to add extra in-game challenge. More information on Burmy’s evolutions has been added to the following guide.

Burmy’s Location

BDSP brings back mechanics from the original games, such as Honey Trees, as faithful remakes of Diamond and Pearl. Trainers will have to check out everything the Sinnoh region has to offer if they want to fill up their Pokedex with Pokemon like Burmy, who can’t be captured in the wild.

They will be able to acquire and use Honey once the trainer arrives in Floaroma Town and assists the man in the Floaroma Meadow. This item works on the golden trees that can be found across Sinnoh. Honey will set you back 100 Poke Dollars, which is a reasonable price. Because some Pokemon can only be found on Honey Trees, it’s a good idea to stock up on jars.

Honey will last for 24 hours on Honey Trees, however Pokemon will spawn after 6 hours. Players will need to reapply Honey if they do not check on Honey Trees after 24 hours.

Burmy has an 11-16 percent chance of appearing as an encounter, depending on the tree the Honey is used on (i.e: regular Honey Trees or Munchlax Tree respectively). Using a Quick Ball at the outset of battle or Net Balls, which have a better chance of catching Bug and Water-type Pokemon, is the best approach to catch Burmy.

Burmy’s Evolutions

Burmy does not have a three-stage evolution, and at level 20, it will either evolve into Wormadam (female) or Mothim (male). Mothim has more Attack and Special Attack than Wormadam, but Wormadam has more Special Defense and middling Defense. Burmy will have a base stat total of 424 after fully matured, regardless of gender.

Burmy also comes in three different varieties. These forms have no effect on Burmy, however if Burmy evolves into Wormadam, they will:

  • Plant Cloak (as Wormadam: Bug/Grass)
  • Sandy Cloak (as Wormadam: Bug/Ground)
  • Trash Cloak (as Wormadam: Bug/Steel)

When encountered in the wild, Burmy will always be wearing its Plant Cloak. Have it fight in tall grass or outside to preserve it in this shape. Burmy must struggle in caves or snowstorms to obtain the Sandy Cloak. Finally, if Burmy fights within a structure, it will receive its Trash Cloak.

Players should have Burmy combat in a specific area before evolving their Wormadam if they want your Wormadam to have a specific form/typing.

Should Burmy Evolve into Wormadam or Mothim?

Using Wormadam or Mothim necessitates considerable planning. Due to their stats and learnsets, these Pokemon are sometimes overlooked in favour of other Bug-type Pokemon. Because of Burmy’s gender, gaining Wormadam or Mothim can be difficult. A trainer who captures a female Burmy but desires a Mothim must capture another Burmy, which must be male. In BDSP, this translates to placing honey on a Honey Tree and waiting six hours in real time. As a result, catching and evolving Burmy can be time-consuming and difficult.

Unlike Mothim, Wormadam has several different forms, each with its own set of stats. While its total base stats will always equal 424, its base stats (excluding HP and Speed) will be jumbled depending on whether Wormadam has the Plant, Sandy, or Trash Cloak. Wormadam’s learnset has a few adjustments to accommodate Cloak Typing as well.

Wormadam CloakBase StatsCloak-Exclusive Moves
Plant Cloak (Bug/Grass)HP: 60 Attack: 59 Special Attack: 79 Defense: 85 Special Defense: 105 Speed: 36Razor Leaf Growth Leaf Storm
Sandy Cloak (Bug/Ground)HP: 60 Attack: 79 Special Attack: 59 Defense: 105 Special Defense: 85 Speed: 36Rock Blast Protect Fissure
Trash Cloak (Bug/Steel)HP: 60 Attack: 69 Special Attack: 69 Defense: 95 Special Defense: 95 Speed: 36Metal Burst Metal Sound Iron Head

Wormadam is a Pokemon with high Defense and Special Defense, despite the stat disparities.

Plant Cloak Wormadam has a higher Special Attack, but Physical Attacks like Razor Leaf are more effective. While Leaf Storm is a powerful Special move, it has a limited amount of PP and significantly reduces Wormadam’s Special Attack after usage. Sandy Cloak Wormadam has a higher Attack, which means it can employ its secondary-typing exclusive attacks, Rock Blast and Fissure, more effectively. Finally, Trash Cloak Wormadam is more all-around and balanced, although its Iron Head Steel-type move is still useful.

Players with a female Burmy should choose a Cloak for Wormadam based on Burmy’s Nature and what suits their team best. Choosing the Cloak isn’t as important for people who merely want Wormadam for the Pokedex.

It’s worth noting that Wormadam’s Cloak can learn different TMs based on its state.

Mothim, on the other hand, is a Bug/Flying-type Pokemon with a mix of Physical and Special moves in its repertoire. Mothim, like Wormadam, learns the Quiver Dance move. Quiver Dance is a move that increases Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. When this is combined with a well-balanced moveset, Mothim should be able to hold his own in a fight.

Mothim’s Bug/Flying Typing gives it a 4x Rock weakness, whereas a Wormadam’s Cloak influences her weaknesses. The immunity to Ground-type, Poison-type, and Electric-type techniques that Mothim, Trash Cloak, and Sandy Cloak Wormadam have over Plant Cloak Wormadam is one of their advantages. Trash Cloak and Plant Cloak Wormadam, on the other hand, are Bug/Steel and Bug/Grass-typed, making them 4x vulnerable to Fire-type attacks.

Mothim has a slightly greater offensive and Speed than Wormadam, but Wormadam is better as a wall and a Special Attacker. Trainers must select whether they want a Pokemon that can hit harder and faster, or one that can survive getting 1HKO’d by opponents.
