How To Defeat Godrick The Grafted In Elden Ring

How To Defeat Godrick The Grafted In Elden Ring . Godrick the Grafted is the Lord of Stormveil Castle, a demi-god relative of Queen Marika, and the first Great Rune bearer in Elden Ring. The Grafted is a particularly difficult boss for newcomers to FromSoftware games, and is regarded by some to serve as a reminder that you don’t have to battle every boss in Elden Ring right away.

The Grafted has two phases, though the second is more of a refinement of the first than a completely new moveset. Melee and ranged gamers both have a variety of options for defeating Godrick in Elden Ring. Godrick, despite his monstrous and terrifying appearance, is not a particularly dangerous foe if you know what you’re doing.

Where To Find Godrick The Grafted

Godrick the Grafted is the Stormveil Castle Legacy Dungeon’s last boss. The Castle can be situated in the northwest corner of Limgrave, in the Stormhill sub-area, and can be seen from nearly every vantage point in Limgrave. After beating Margit the Fell, you’ll arrive at Stormveil Castle’s gate, where a gatekeeper will tell you of a secret passage.

You can get to Godrick considerably faster if you don’t take the secret road, but you’ll have to deal with (or dodge past) an entire army of soldiers and innumerable ballistae. Godrick’s boss room is located in the Castle’s northernmost point, which players may easily reach by using the main gate. If you choose the side road, keep going until you reach a room with Warrior Pots and a ruined ledge leading down. To the left of this room is the Fog Wall, and in front of it is a Site of Lost Grace.

Godrick’s Moveset, Weaknesses, And Phases

Godrick the Grafted is a strong boss, but he has a more predictable moveset than Margit the Fell, who is notorious in the Elden Ring for her supposedly erratic attack patterns. Godrick, on the other hand, has a few tricks up his sleeve that can take a player out if their dodges and movement aren’t accurate.

He has two phases: one in which he wields his massive axe, and another in which he cuts off his own arm and grafts on a Dragon’s head. His first phase is gone quickly, with only around 2/3 of his health bar remaining, and phase two is a much more difficult battle due to his enhanced speed and power.

Godrick’s Moveset – Phase One

  • Short-Range Wind AoE: After swinging his axe in a circle, Godrick generates a massive wind tunnel around himself. Extremely damaging.
  • Long-Range Wind Gusts: Godrick fires two gusts of wind towards the player at once, usually following his Wind AoE strike. Low damage, but it can catch you off guard.
  • Cleaving Lunge Attack: Godrick charges a strike for a second before launching it towards the player, occasionally with a second attack. Extremely high damage.
  • Godrick launches himself into the air, raises his axe, and slams into the ground. High damage, with the ability to one-shot players with low Vigor.
  • Godrick repeatedly smashes his axe into the earth beneath his feet in a smashing axe attack combo. Damage is moderate, and it’s easy to avoid.
  • Godrick merely swings his axe at the player, but the hits, like Margit’s, take a second longer than intended to land. Damage is moderate.

Godrick’s Moveset – Phase Two Additions

  • Walking Fire Breath AoE: Godrick walks forward with his Dragon-grafted arm in front of him, shooting fire across the battlefield. AoE is massive, and damage is great.
  • Godrick’s wind AoE and gusts of wind are laced with flame, enhancing the damage of both short-range and long-range wind attacks.
  • Godrick will continue to smash his axe into the ground as previously, but will end the three-hit combo with a gigantic AoE smash. Extremely high damage.

Godrick’s Weaknesses

Godrick the Grafted is fairly resistant to most attacks, although the amount of damage he absorbs does not alter from phase one to phase two. He is especially vulnerable to Bleed damage, which is commonly utilised on fast weapons to quickly fill the concealed Bleed metre. Poison damage is also weak against him, and he can be poisoned for consistent damage in this already protracted battle.

Godrick looks to be resistant to fire damage in phase two, so Fire Sling and Catch Flame won’t be as effective if you’re mostly utilising Incantations (though the difference is only slight).

Strategies For Beating Godrick

At first, defeating Godrick may appear to be a huge struggle; he’s the first big storey boss most players will encounter (aside from Margit), therefore he’s designed to be more difficult than later bosses. If you’re having trouble defeating him, you can use a Furlcalling Finger Remedy to summon more players, like you do with other bosses in Elden Ring.

Spirit Summons are also useful in solitary play. The Spirit Jellyfish Ashes are the greatest Spirit Ash to utilise on Godrick this early in Elden Ring. If you finish Roderika’s questline before taking on Godrick, you can improve this Spirit Summon a few times. And its high HP pool and Poison-based skills make it a very handy friend indeed. It also has a low FP cost.

Spellcasting/Ranged

Godrick is an easier boss for ranged players that primarily use Sorceries or Incantations. Than melee players because his long-range moves are well-telegraphed and easy to escape from a safe distance. Sorceries is the most straightforward of the three ranged techniques. Bow players will have the most difficulty in this area, especially early on in the game. When there are few craftable Arrows available.

In phase one, aim to keep a safe distance and land as many ranged attacks. As possible before he approaches melee range. His powerful attacks are slow, and some even allow you enough. Time between combos to cast a spell or fire an arrow. During Godrick’s Fire Breath strike in phase two. Stay behind him for a few seconds of attacks while he travels forward.

Melee Strategies

Godrick’s greatest melee strategies are to break his stance as quickly is possible in phase one or to deal Bleed damage. Use a Jumping Attack when you have the opportunity for a strike. And keep your Stamina as full as possible to block his quick assaults and counter with a Guard Counter. In general, it’s advisable to avoid sluggish, powerful assaults while blocking speedy ones. How To Defeat Godrick The Grafted In Elden Ring

In phase one, look for Godrick to raise his axe and advance backwards. Signalling the start of his short-range Wind AoE strike. Godrick’s melee strikes are best avoided by staying behind him. But he will occasionally roll away to gain distance for a lunge or a Gust of Wind assault. Stay in front of Godrick as he prepares to breathe fire everywhere in phase two. Then dodge behind him at the last possible moment. He’ll keep walking forward for a few seconds longer, providing you time to use Jumping Attacks or Strong Attacks.
