How To Get The Glaive In Destiny 2

How To Get The Glaive In Destiny 2. New Destiny 2 expansion Glaive: The Witch Queen introduced a new weapon archetype. This weapon’s nature as a first-person melee weapon sets it apart from swords. It also has two firing modes: melee and projectile.

The first glaive introduced has a shield to block damage. Knowing that glaives are important in seasonal artefact mods, players will want to get their hands on the weapon as soon as possible. Get the glaive in Destiny 2.

Anastasia Maillot updated March 17, 2022: Now that the world’s first raid race has concluded and the Wellspring drop rate issues have been resolved, players can learn how to obtain Exotic glaives. Though glaives are still a contentious topic in the community, many players enjoy them as a seasonal addition. Exotic glaives are unique in that they have special effects that can help teammates in PVE content. How to get Exotic glaives in Destiny 2.

Glaive Types

Bungie has teased various Glaives leading up to The Witch Queen expansion. While Exotic glaives will eventually be available, players must first craft their own using a relic found on Savathun’s ship during the Witch Queen campaign’s first mission.

This guide will be updated once more information on Exotic glaives is known.

The Exotic Glaive

After completing The Investigation, players can access the Evidence Board at the Enclave on Mars. To access the glaive crafting, players must complete the following quests:

  • Get three Resonant Runes to get an Osmic Fragment.
  • Complete the Altar of Reflection quest.
  • SCORN-ORDER – Defeat strong Scorn enemies to earn Marching Orders
  • Reveal: RELIC-DATA – Weapons of Tarnation and Come To Pass. Create a weapon with an Enhanced Trait.
  • STEPS-RETRACED – Collect champion insight from weekly storey mission.
  • PYRAMID-INSPECT: Finish the Preservation quest.
  • Finally, lure Immaru to the Queen’s Bailey. Despair and return to the Enclave.

How To Finish RELIC-DATA Quest

This quest will take the player the longest to get their Exotic glaive. Because players must shape five weapons at the Enclave, they must first unlock the Pattern for each weapon and then have the materials to shape them.

WeaponPattern Unlocks RequiredDrop Location
Red Herring1Witch Queen campaign.
Likely Suspect1Witch Queen campaign.
Empirical Evidence1Witch Queen campaign.
Tarnation2Wellspring activity.
Come To Pass2Wellspring activity.

Not enough normal drops All of these require the red-border Deepsight Resonance versions. Once you’ve extracted the pattern, head to Mars to craft these weapons. During this process, players should stockpile extra Deepsight Resonance weapons in their Vault so they have enough materials to craft all five weapons.

This means players should keep an eye out for the current reward weapon. Every day, the weapon changes.

Save Ascendant Alloys to reshape and apply Enhanced Traits. These alloys come from two places:

  • Master Rahool: 1 Ascendant Alloy for 400 Glimmer once a week.
  • Increasing difficulties drop Ascendant Alloys more frequently.

To use an Enhanced Trait, a weapon must first be levelled up. During this quest, players should use the Enigma glaive they first crafted at the start of the campaign to reshape and enhance.

Getting the other two patterns for the other two subclasses requires completing Wellspring activities. So players should start with their “main” or favourite subclass.

The Enigma Glaive

To get the first Legendary glaive, players must complete The Witch Queen’s first campaign mission. In the storey, players enter a strange vessel on Mars. They will eventually come across a strange black relic on a pedestal as they explore the ship. Pick it up by interacting.

After the mission, players are instructed to enter the Enclave’s weapon crafting area. To begin the cutscene, gather your fireteam around the table.

The Enigma Glaive

From here, players are taken to the default weapon crafting screen. Players can use Shaping or Reshaping. Shaping allows players to create new weapons while reshaping allows them to change their traits and perks. For now, select Shaping.

Now players must choose a weapon to Shape. So far, they’ve found a few weapons, but more will come Pick the Enigma Glaive now.

On the next screen, players can select the Enigma’s perks one by one. First, players must choose a glaive frame. For now, players should use the Adaptive Glaive frame.

Then they must choose their Haft. A choice is made between the Ballistic Tuning and Low-Impedance Hafts:

  • Ballistic Tuning Haft: Longer range, shorter shield. Great for glaive damage.
  • Low-Impedance Haft: Increases shield duration, but reduces range. The shield feature is great for guardians.

Choose your magazine type now. Initially, the Enigma Glaive has two magazine types:

  • When the alloy magazine is empty, the glaive reloads faster.
  • Extended Magazine: Larger magazine, slower reload speed.

The Enigma’s first Trait option has only one. Choose it now to continue crafting:

  • Tilting At Windmills: Shield blocking increases movement speed.

The second Trait option is Unrelenting or Kill Clip. Those who enjoy doing damage will likely prefer Kill Clip, while those who enjoy good sustain will find Unrelenting to be very useful.

  • Unrelenting: Quickly defeating enemies regenerates health. Enemies with high power count as multiples. Great for players seeking more sustain.
  • After a kill, reloading increases damage. Great for damage dealers.

There’s also a Memento socket, but for now, players will be unable to add anything to it. At the far right, players can choose to Finalize Shape option to craft their brand-new Enigma Glaive.

Using The Enigma Glaive

The Enigma Glaive’s primary fire can be activated with M1, while the shield is activated with M2 continuously pressed down. A metre in the player’s screen slowly depletes when the shield is active. At close range, players can use melee attacks that require no Special ammo.

Enemies hit by the Glaive’s melee attack will glow red. This is due to the Enigma’s intrinsic Psychohack Trait, which will appear on every player’s Enigma Glaive. When players deal damage for a while with their Glaive, Psychohack becomes active and lowers the affected target’s damage output. For players who don’t have the best defensive skills or stats, this makes the Glaive easier to play close-range.

All Enigma Glaives will also automatically be Power weapons requiring Special ammo, with a Void element specialisation. They’re great for removing Void shields and are perfect for this season’s buffs to Void builds.
