How To Complete Patches Questline In Elden Ring. Patches appears throughout Elden Ring in a variety of settings, and each of your meetings with him is distinct and special, as you’d expect from the old jerk. Patches’ quest isn’t a large quest that rewards you with a fancy weapon like Ranni’s, but it’s still worth doing for the laughs and wonderful chat with an old buddy.
So, here’s a list of Patches’ known locations in Elden Ring, as well as some instructions on how to finish his quest.
Patches Limgrave location
The Patches’ first site is Elden Ring in Murkwater Cave.
- Patches’ first location is in Limgrave’s Murkwater Cave. He’ll fight you as soon as you open his chest, but if you bring his health bar to 40% or 50%, he’ll surrender.
- He’ll beg pardon and reside in Murkwater Cave for some time.
- When you return to Murkwater Cave for the second time, you’ll see a new chest, which is actually a trap that will lead you to Mistwood Ruins.
- Return from Mistwood and pardon him once more.
Liurnia of the Lakes location
- He’ll relocate to Liurnia of the Lakes if you forgive him a second time. He’ll be on an elevated isle immediately past the Laskyar Ruins (map below).
Patches located in Liurnia – Elden Ring
- When you first encounter him, he’ll tell you that you should let Iron Virgin grab you and transfer you to the Erdtree.
- Iron Virgin may be located in the bottom of the waterwheel in Raya Lucaria’s dungeon, but she’ll take you to Volcano Manor, where you’ll face two Iron Virgins in a boss fight.
Patches Mt. Gelmir location
- After you’ve completed the Luirnia and Atlus Plateaus, proceed to Mt. Gelmir, where Patches has set up camp.
- He’s immediately after the watchtower, near the Mt. Gelmir site of grace. A message as well as colourful Rainbow Stones will be visible (map below)
- Patches located in Mt. Gelmir – Elden Ring
- You can talk to him or simply follow the Rainbow Stone route to the edge to see a cutscene.
- Will shove you off the cliff and tell you that you’ll never get to the Volcano Manor during the sequence.
Patches Volcano Manor location
- The Patches’ next placement in Volcano Manor is yet to be determined. Join the Volcano Manor first, then speak with Patches.
- Return to Patches after completing the first assassination to receive a note.
- Kill the Great Horned Tragoth in Ruin-Strewn Precipice as per Patches’ request (map below).

- Return to Patches to receive your reward, the Magma Whip Candlestick, after skipping some time or reloading the area.
Patches Shaded Castle location
- Patches will travel to Shaded Castle, which is located between Atlus Plateau and Mt.Gelmir, after killing God-Devouring Serpent, the final Volcano Manor task.
- When crossing the wooden rope bridge between these two districts, you can see the Castle.
- Patches position in Shaded Castle for Elden Ring
- Dancer’s Castanets will be given to you by Patches, which you must present to Tanith at Volcano Manor (Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy site of grace).
- Patches will not be present when you return to the Shaded Castle. His current whereabouts are unknown.
- Since he tells you he isn’t feeling well, there’s a good likelihood he died after leaving the castle. If you opt to hit him, he will also die with only one hit.
- With future upgrades, it’s possible that the mission will be expanded.
